Service Description
Private Weaving tuition, multi shaft Weaving day workshop. Suitable for complete beginners - intermediate, no experience required. Day of - Set within a relaxed home studio in the Cambridgeshire, your beginner’s workshop will allow you to try Weaving various Weave structures on a pre-warped 4 Shaft Louet Kombo Table Loom. During the workshop Rosie-may will talk you through the Loom, all of the key elements and moving mechanisms. You will then be taught the basics of how fabric is constructed using warp and weft. Rosie will explain how the Loom has been set up for you, how the paper plans correlate to what is actually on the Loom in front of you. Followed by how to read a lifting plan and use the shuttles. Once we have covered the theory and practiced using the shafts and shuttles, Rosie will explain the different types of lifting plans you can work with for this warp. You will then be able to choose from a variety of yarns to design and Weave your own sample. You will come away with your own sample fabric(s), the amount is determined by the pace of the Weaver. Weaving is a traditional slow craft, everything is done by hand. The course will run on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday on an enquiry basis. One to one tuition allows you to work at your own pace, and ask as many questions as you like! Location- I live in a small village called Stilton, 10 miles from Peterborough and 35 miles from Cambridge, with excellent access just off the A1 (M) , Junction 16. Off Street parking provided. What's included in the price- All materials are included, including hire of Loom (s) and tools, yarns, loose fibres and design materials. Workshop guests may like to bring own yarns, pieces of fabric, fibres and ribbons. In addition to a course completion certificate, I will finish and frame your sample for you. I provide tea, coffee and biscuits with some snacks, however lunch is not provided. There is a cafe eatery directly next door, The Bell Inn that serves food from 9:00 am. Additionally, there is a local shop available across the road or you are welcome to bring lunch with you. The workshop fee also entitles you to 15% off from products currently in stock. Downstairs lavatory is provided. Unfortunately, this workshop is not currently suitable for wheelchair users. Use of the table Loom requires standing. Preparatory work and some background will be given on confirmation and receipt of payment for your Weaving Workshop.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 3 weeks before the course starts. Partial refund may be available depending on circumstances up to 2 week before course starts.
