1-1 Intro to Weaving with a Table Loom.
Join hand-weaver Rosie-may for a day long taster session of Table Loom Weaving in her home Studio.
Service Description
Half day workshops typically offer 3 hours of teaching time. I arrive earlier to set everything up, make introductions and ensure everyone is happy. During the session, you will use your creativity to explore colours, textures and patterns to weave your very own handwoven textile, which is yours to keep at the end of the session. The size of this fabric will depend on the pace of the weaver and materials chosen. Over the course of the 3 hours, students might enjoy: · Learning the mechanics of a table loom · Weaving cloth for the first time · Experimenting with different yarns and fibres · Following and creating patterns · Exploring new techniques & patterns · Experimenting with colour & texture · Taking home their handwoven cloth Who are these sessions for? These sessions are for both beginners and advanced weavers alike and are fun to do as a group. They are a really great way to be introduced to weaving and under experienced guidance. You will be at ease to discover more about this craft in a low pressure, friendly environment. 1-1 sessions allow for personalised teaching; you are welcome to encourage a friend or partner to join you, or small group of up to 4 people if you would prefer and have the space available. I am happy to run a private small group workshop within your residence or outdoor spaces, weather permitting. Looms & Equipment Each participant will be working on their own 8 shaft Loom. Participants will be given a tray of accessories to hold their yarns & fibres, reed hook and shuttles, so that they can keep the materials they are working with close to hand. With private There are 4 looms available to book for workshops. You will have access to a large variety of yarn textures and types. Along with bobbins and bobbin winders to wind yourself. For workshops within your home, the loom dimensions are about 57 cm wide x 75 cm deep. I tend to say about 50cm is required between looms where multiple people are participating. Depending on your table height, you could weave sitting down. However, students do tend to weave standing, with a chair available for rest. Preparatory work and some background will be given on confirmation and receipt of payment for your Weaving Workshop. A small milage fee will be included in your invoice to contribute to fuel and travel costs. This fee is based on £0.45 per mile.
